The business meeting will begin at 11:00 a.m., and closed session will begin at 9:00 a.m. Please Note: The new meeting location is 15 West Gude Drive, Rockville, Maryland. The meeting will be broadcast live on Comcast Channel 34 (HD 1071), Verizon FIOS Channel 36, and RCN Channel 89. The meeting is rebroadcast at 1:00 p.m. on the Saturday and Sunday following the meeting.
The Montgomery County Board of Education announced Dr. Thomas Taylor will be appointed superintendent of Montgomery County Public Schools. Dr. Taylor is an MCPS alum. The Board will vote on Dr. Taylor’s appointment at their regularly scheduled June 25 business meeting.
Praneel Suvarna, Clarksburg High School Senior, will be installed as the 47th Student Member of the Board of Education (SMOB) July 1.
Suvarna succeeds Sami Saeed, a 2024 graduate of Richard Montgomery High School. The Board will recognize Saeed’s service at the July 1 ceremony.
The SMOB installation ceremony will take place July 1, 4:00 p.m. at 15 W. Gude Drive. The ceremony is open to the public, with limited seating. It will also be livestreamed on the MCPS website and broadcast live on Comcast Channel 34, Verizon FIOS Channel 36, and RCN Channel 89.
